Almost all of Queensland is under a rain cloud.
A large and unpredictable weather system is lashing parts of the state and is expected to bring intense rainfall through the weekend.
Some regions had already recorded more than 200mm by Friday night.
It’s prompted warnings from the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) for millions to be aware of intense weather and flooding threats.
The low pressure system is expected to linger off-shore right across the weekend.
“We could see up to 100mm and isolated totals of up to 200mm,” meteorologist Laura Boekel told 9News.
Brisbane was spared the worst of Friday’s weather with only 10-15mm recorded.

Residents who were impacted by floods earlier this year were still beginning to sandbag homes in preparation for the high totals over the weekend. People on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast were also on alert.
“There’s a lot of uncertainty about where that weather system is going to be but what we do know is, there’s a lot of rain in it,” Boekel said.
Fraser Coast Regional Council, Noosa Shire Council, and Gympie Regional Council all issued emergency advice alert warnings on Friday.
“The area may be affected by heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding in the next 36 to 48 hours,” the councils said.
“Totals of up to 200mm is possible. Warn neighbours, secure your belongings and stay off the road if possible.”
Throughout Friday, multiple weather warnings were issued:
- Major flooding expected later on Saturday for the Macintyre River downstream of Holdfast.
- A severe weather warning for parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast districts, bringing intense falls between Seventeen Seventy and Maroochydore.
- A severe thunderstorm warning for heavy rainfall across the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, and parts of Central Highlands and Coalfields, Maranoa, and Warrego districts.
