A Victorian landscaper has captured the extraordinary moment a kangaroo leapt metres into the air as it bounded into a backyard.
Nathan Xuebsy was at work with his colleagues Gabby Mellado and Doug earlier this week in the town of Beveridge, 37 kilometres north of Melbourne’s CBD, when the marsupial bounded past their bobcat and into a vacant lot.
They opened a gate to the fenced-off area to help let the animal out but the kangaroo had other plans.
The kangaroo jumped onto the fence and then used it to vault metres higher to clear it, stunning Xuebsy, who filmed the whole thing.
The trio immediately went to check on the kangaroo, who was uninjured and hopped away.
“I took a screenshot of the video when the kangaroo was at its highest,” Xuebsy said.
“I put it on Facebook and said I think I just took the best photo I ever will in my life.”
Xuebsy said his friends and family were initially in disbelief until they watched the video of the moment.
