LA hit with 3.9-magnitude earthquake following Oscars 2025

An earthquake rattled Los Angeles hours after the 2025 Academy Awards ceremony wrapped up in Hollywood, according to multiple reports.

The 3.9-magnitude tremor struck North Hollywood at around 10:13 p.m. on Sunday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Shaking was reported to be felt miles across LA, including in Pasadena, Long Beach, San Fernando Valley, Torrance, Redondo Beach and Glendale, NBC Los Angeles reported.

There have been no immediate reports of injuries or damages, according to ABC 7.

The Los Angeles Fire Department posted on X that they would not enter “earthquake Mode” following the quake. 

“Earthquake mode” is when first responders look for damage following a large earthquake, including damage to buildings and infrastructure.

The quake comes just hours after the conclusion of the 97th Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Shaking was reportedly seen on a live stream of an afterparty hosted by Vanity Fair at the Wallis Annenberg Center, about 4 miles away from the Dolby Theatre, according to The Sun.
