A young Adelaide man has had an unusual fright during his dental appointment when his iPhone burst into flames mid-treatment.
Nineteen-year-old Kobi was already enduring the pain of the dentist’s chair when his device exploded without warning in his lap.
“No warning, it just popped up bang on the spot… no warning or no indication,” he told 9News.
The staff and other patients at SA Dental in Angle Park were forced to evacuate the premises as smoke filled the clinic.
“We kind of just rolled out of there straight away,” Kobi said.
“They were like ‘hurry up, get out, get out.”
Fortunately, the clinic’s flooring isn’t flammable, preventing a potentially disastrous fire.
Firefighters and Apple are now separately investigating whether the fire may have been due to a fault in the iPhone 11.
