Several knives have been found after a group were seen running from a park in Melbourne, where a man’s body was found early this morning.

Homicide squad detective inspector Dean Thomas said a man who was at Balmoral Park in Derrimut found the victim injured and called police about 4.20am.

The man and first responders tried to resuscitate him but he died at the scene.

Thomas identified the man as a 28-year-old from Derrimut, who appeared to have been stabbed.

“What we do know is that the deceased male was last seen around 9pm in the Derrimut area by his sister in the company of three males,” he said at a press conference today.

What happened between 9pm yesterday and 4.20am today, and who he was with, will form part of the investigation.
