Knicks’ Miles McBride agrees to three-year, $13M extension

On a night the Knicks traded two of their former draft picks, they locked up another one.

Miles McBride agreed to a three-year, $13 million extension, multiple sources confirmed to The Post.

The deal is fully guaranteed and frontloaded, decreasing in annual salary each year, which helps McBride from a cash value standpoint, sources said.

McBride, a defensive-minded point guard, has been used sparingly since getting drafted 36th overall in 2021.

But he should get an increased role after the team dealt Immanuel Quickley in a package to Toronto, leaving McBride as probably the first backup point guard after Jalen Brunson.

Malachi Flynn, a 25-year-old point guard, was also acquired in the deal and will compete with McBride for minutes.

As the Knicks awaited the arrivals of their new players, McBride, 23, logged a season-high 18 minutes in Saturday’s 140-126 defeat to the Pacers.

He scored five points with one assist on 2-of-3 shooting.

McBride’s strength is tenacious on-ball defending, which prompted comparisons to Marcus Smart during the draft process.

Nevertheless, the offense has kept McBride off the court as he’s managing a 35 percent career shooting percentage.

A product of West Virginia, McBride dropped a career-high 18 points last season in a victory over the Blazers.

Earlier in the day, the Knicks completed the biggest trade of the Leon Rose era, sending Quickley and RJ Barrett to the Raptors for OG Anunoby, Flynn and Precious Achiuwa.
