A driver has been killed and another man has been seriously injured in a head-on car crash. 

The collision happened in at Mamre Road, in Kemps Creek in  Sydney’s west around 6am on Friday. 

A hatchback and a ute crashed into each other with one driver killed while another motorist was trapped for almost an hour before emergency services arrived at the scene. 

A spokesperson from the NSW Ambulance service told Daily Mail Australia the man suffered leg, facial,  and chest injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics. 

The man was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.  

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Liverpool Hospital. 

The crash has sparked heavy traffic with the road – a major artery – closed in both directions.
