Kate Middleton “jokingly shivers” when she hears Meghan Markle’s name mentioned, a new book claims.
The Princess of Wales is also described as “cold” in controversial reporter Omid Scobie’s latest missive on the royal family, “Endgame,” as the writer says there has been “almost zero direct communication, bar a few short pleasantries, between the pair since late 2019”.
This means they did not really talk even before the Duke and Duchess Sussex officially quit Britain in 2020 in the dramatic “Megxit” split.
If Prince Harry and his wife are keen to reconcile with the royal family, then this book will surely not help matters, a palace source told Page Six, adding: “Harry and Meghan are meant to be on their reconciliation tour.”
Scobie alleges that for Kate, 41, however, there is “no going back” in the breakdown of her relationship with Harry and Markle.
“She was close to Harry, and she will always look back fondly on those moments… and the relationship he had with their children… but to her there is no way she could ever trust them after all their interviews,” a source who knows the family claims in the book.
Scobie has long been thought to be an ally of the Sussexes and indeed, reveals how Markle called him on his cell phone out of the blue when he was being harassed online back in 2019 – when she had become “the most trolled person in the world” and the palace was doing “virtually nothing” to help her.
In one chapter, he goes into the making of a princess – and even alleges that the future queen has had elocution lessons in a bid to become more like the late Queen Elizabeth.
“Kate has learned what is paramount for survival in the system: vanishing into your role, giving away nothing, and allowing yourself to embody what the public sees in you. And with those elocution lessons, the Princess of Wales even sounds a bit like her former boss -polished, regal, and appropriately distant.”

Scobie adds that while Kate and Markle were caught up in the fallout of Prince William and Harry’s disintegrating relationship, and could have bonded as palace outsiders, Kate did nothing to support Markle when she joined the royal family.
There is the still-hotly contested story over who made whom cry over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress for Harry and Markle’s 2018 wedding. Reports in the UK said Markle made Kate cry, Markle then told Oprah Winfrey it was the other way around.
Scobie cites someone who has worked with Kate as saying: “She can be cold if she doesn’t like someone,” adding that Kate was “never a fan” of Markle.
“She spent more time talking about Meghan than talking to her,” he quotes the source.
As has been previously reported in the Times of London, Kate was the one was the one to insist on the now famous “recollections may vary” line in a royal statement after the Sussexes alleged racism within the family on their Winfrey interview.
“Endgame” comes out on Tuesday, but sources who know the Sussexs were keen to stress that they had nothing to do with the book – which is Scobie’s follow-up to his tome, “Finding Freedom” about their departure from royal life and “Megxit”.
“Any speculation that this is a Sussex book is insane,”one source told Page Six.
