‘Karate Kid: Legends’ Comes to Digital, But When Will the New ‘Karate Kid’ Movie Be Streaming Free on Netflix?

If you loved the Cobrai Kai series, then you don’t want to miss the new Karate Kid movie, Karate Kid: Legends, which is coming to digital platforms to buy and rent tomorrow.

The sixth movie in the Karate Kid franchise, Legends was directed by Jonathan Entwistle and written by Rob Lieber, and picks up where Cobra Kai left off. Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio once again reprise their roles as Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso, who must team up to help a new young karate-master-in-training, Li Fong (played by newcomer Ben Wang), who also happens to Mr. Han’s great nephew.

Karate Kid: Legends received mixed reviews from critics, but for fans of the franchise, it will certainly be worth the watch. Read on to find out how to watch Karate Kid: Legends online, and when we expect to see Karate Kid: Legends streaming free on Netflix.

Karate Kid: Legends movie digital release date:

Beginning on Tuesday, July 8 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also Monday, July 7 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time) Karate Kid: Legends will be available to buy and rent digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more.

The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $19.99 to rent, and $24.99 to buy. If you rent the movie, you will have a 48-hour window to watch it after you hit “play.”

How to watch the Karate Kid: Legends movie on streaming:

Karate Kid: Legends is not currently streaming free on any of the subscription-based streaming services. However, if you don’t want to pay to buy or rent the movie, we do expect to see Karate Kid: Legends streaming on Netflix in the near future, because of the Sony-Netflix output deal.

Netflix offers three subscription plans to fit your streaming needs. The plans start at $7.99/month for standard with ads and go up to $24.99/month for unlimited ad-free streaming in up to 4K UHD quality.

When will Karate Kid: Legends be streaming free on Netflix?

Karate Kid: Legends will likely be on Netflix in the next few months. Netflix has a deal with Sony Pictures that gives the streamer the rights to the Sony movies in the “Pay 1” window, meaning the first streaming window after the film’s home media release. Another recent Sony movie, Kraven the Hunter, came to Netflix about three months after opening in theaters, while Sony’s One of Them Days began streaming on Netflix just two-and-a-half months after opening in theaters. Still other Sony movies have taken four months to come to Netflix. So while it hasn’t been consistent every time, we do expect to see Karate Kid: Legends on Netflix in the next few months.

If Karate Kid: Legends follows the same release pattern as Kraven the Hunter, you can expect Karate Kid: Legends to stream on Netflix around late August 2025, aka three months after the movie opened in theaters in the U.S. in late May. It will be free to stream for anyone with a Netflix subscription.

In the meantime, you can watch the Karate Kid: Legends movie online by buying or renting the movie on digital platforms.
