A US tourist has kept his cool after a kangaroo squared him up for a scuffle.

The man tried to walk away from the situation at the Cohunu Koala Park in Perth on Friday but the boxing kangaroo refused to let him leave.

The bout lasted almost two minutes until a keeper stepped in and scolded the kangaroo.

Courtney Turtur said she was at the park with her son Marley when the marsupial first approached some of the visitors.

“It began scratching at my shoes and so myself and my son began to walk away from it,” she told 9News.

“It then followed me very closely jumping behind me.

“Thankfully, the American tourist heard me scream and came to help.”

A video of the incident has racked up more than 1 million views on TikTok.
