A pair of star-studded New York pitchers and their spouses were out and about the Concrete Jungle this past week.
Mets’ star free-agent acquisition, Justin Verlander, and Yankee ace Gerrit Cole shared a double date with their wives, Kate Upton and Amy Cole, while on a boat touring the Statue of Liberty.
The twosome of Amy and Kate were also pictured together in a suite during last week’s Subway Series at Citi Field.
The couples have seemingly known each other for years, dating back to Verlander and Cole’s mutual time spent as co-aces for the Houston Astros, beginning in 2018.

They spent two years as teammates during dominant seasons in 2018 and 2019, the latter representing a World Series appearance.
During their two seasons as teammates, Verlander had a 2.55 ERA while winning 37 games between the two seasons, including 21 in 2019 and adding the AL CY Young Award to his hardware collection.

Cole also shared incredible success in Houston, finishing as the Cy Young runner-up in 2019 and boasting a career-best 2.50 ERA with 20 wins.
The Juan Soto, Stephen Strasburg-led Nationals would wind up winning the 2019 World Series against Houston in seven games.

That time in Houston was marred with controversy because of the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal.
Game 6 of the 2019 ALCS infamously ended when Jose Altuve launched a walk-off home run off of ex-Yankee closer Aroldis Chapman to send the team to the World Series.

Major League Baseball fined the Astros $5 million for the cheating scandal, and the team forfeited their first and second-round draft picks in 2020 and 2021.
