We may need someone with a mop and a bucket to report for cleanup duty over at the studios of MSNBC because people’s heads are still exploding over the surging popularity of Donald Trump. One of our favorites from that crew is Joy Reid, of course, since she can reliably be counted upon to say the most outrageous things whenever the Bad Orange Man’s name is brought up. This week was no exception. After originally suggesting that Trump hadn’t even been injured in the assassination attempt or at least that it was “no big deal,” Reid took a different approach yesterday. After we learned that Joe Biden had contracted COVID again (allegedly), Joy Reid decided to draw a comparison. She said that if Biden can recover from COVID – again – it would be a “sign of strength” just as Trump has been described as a symbol of strength since the shooting. Comparing Biden to Trump, she asked if that isn’t “exactly the same.” You really can’t make this stuff up. (Fox News)
MSNBC host Joy Reid suggested on Wednesday that President Biden recovering from COVID-19 is a “sign of strength” similar to former President Trump surviving an assassination attempt.
“These two men are both elderly. Donald Trump is an elderly man who, for whatever reason, was given nine seconds to take an iconic photo-op during an active shooter situation. Weird situation, we’ll figure that out one day,” Reid said during MSNBC’s live coverage of the Republican National Convention.
Reid added that the media is portraying Trump surviving the assassination attempt and shortly returning to the campaign by appearing at his party’s convention as a “sign of strength.”
I’ll have the video below so you can judge for yourself, but listening to her full remarks, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to understand where Joy Reid is coming from (it’s a dark place) and her current state of mind. She is furious that people in the media – even on her side of the fence – are referring to Donald Trump’s strength. She brings it up several times before going on about how Biden must surely be as strong if not stronger.
She’s also delving into conspiracy theories again. Notice how she spends a fair bit of her rambling message asking how Donald Trump could have been “allowed to pose” for almost ten seconds “to take an iconic photo-op during an active shooter situation.” She described that turn of events as “weird,” promising that “we’ll get to the bottom of that later.” If she hates the verbal descriptions of Trump that are currently going around, that iconic picture has left her seething like the cauldrons of hell.
None of this is really new ground that we’re covering. Trump has long since driven Joy Reid insane, leaving us to cook up some popcorn and sit back to enjoy the show. We all know that deep down, Reid is craving to say that she wishes the shooter had better aim, but unlike some of her other colleagues on the liberal left, she’s managed to restrain herself so far. We shall see how long that lasts.
