Joy Behar Rolls Eyes After Alyssa Farah Griffin Says Gen Zers “Feel Left Behind By The Economy” On ‘The View’: “Oh, Please! Get A Job!”

Joy Behar has no interest in the Gen Z sob story. On this morning’s episode of The View, the longtime co-host urged young people still living at home to “get a job” if they are unhappy with their current situation.

During a Hot Topics segment, Whoopi Goldberg read that Gen Zers are “terrified to turn 30” as they are “worried about losing their stamina, sex appeal, value as they age and that they’ll have nothing to look forward to other than wrinkles, health issues and death.”

While the moderator could hardly get through the explanation without bursting into laughter, Alyssa Farah Griffin jumped in with a more serious approach.

“This generation — in defense of Gen Z — they’re not hitting the milestones the way every generation before them did,” she said. “They’re owning homes at a lower rate. This is wild. Forty-five percent of people between the ages of 18 and 29 still live with their parents. They feel left behind by the economy.”

However, Behar did not want to hear it.

“Oh, please! Get a job! There are a million job openings in this country. Get a job,” she scoffed as she rolled her eyes, to which Griffin fired back, “They have jobs. They have to work multiple jobs,” before reminding the comedian that she can talk to anyone who works for The View if she needs proof.

Like Griffin, Sunny Hostin chimed in to defend Gen Zers.

“They’ve lived through a pandemic. They’ve lived through the worst of times. I’m raising two Gen Zers so I want to just defend them a little bit,” she said. “I think it’s a little less that they’re afraid of getting older, I think they’re unsure of the future.”

Still, Behar didn’t back down, sarcastically telling the group, “Boo-hoo,” while Goldberg added, “None of us were sure of the future.”

Sound familiar? This isn’t the first time the older co-hosts have been critical of younger generations. After a November episode of The View, Goldberg came under fire for scolding lazy Millennials who don’t want to work.

“Every generation comes and wants to do better than their parents did. Every generation,” she said. “But I’m sorry. If you only want to work four hours, it’s gonna be harder for you to get a house. I feel for everybody that feels this but I’m sorry, we busted our behinds. We had to bust our behinds because we didn’t have the option of going back.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
