Joy Behar is in a festive Friday mood, but unfortunately for her, not everyone in The View studio felt that infectious energy. Of course, being Behar, she was sure to call them out on it.
This morning’s episode kicked off with a discussion about Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene‘s confrontation with a British reporter, whom she dismissed for not being from the United States. When the reporter asked about the leaked Signal chat in which Trump officials disclosed war plans, Greene asked where she was from, then snapped at her, “We don’t give a crap about your opinion and your reporting.”
The clip stirred up some strong reactions at the Hot Topics table, with the ladies expressing dismay over Greene’s cutting words.
“What’s all this hostility toward the allies?” Behar asked. “I mean, I just read that traveling to the U.S. from Europe, the Middle East and Africa is down 12.8% compared to last year.”
Sunny Hostin pointed out that those regions have issued travel advisories for America, while Ana Navarro that Canada has also been attacked by the Trump administration.
Behar then turned to the audience and said, “How many people are from Canada? Just clap,” but was met with total silence.
“No one,” she said after a long pause as Hostin exclaimed, “They don’t want to come!”
Behar remarked, “I made my point,” before thanking the silent audience for unwittingly supporting her argument.
Navarro continued the chat by arguing that Canadian snowbirds are a huge boost to America’s economy, telling her co-hosts it’s “vexing” to see the “disdain” the Trump administration shows for allies like Canada, Denmark and Greenland.
After the segment wrapped up, the show returned with their next Hot Topic , a discussion about the term “salt-coating.” Behar began, “There’s a lot of new terms that people are using these days,” then looked out to the audience as she said, “Here’s one: Have you ever heard the term ‘salt-coating?’”
When she was met with zero reaction from the studio audience, Behar said, “No. OK. Is this audience awake?”
That got them going, earning a hearty laugh for Behar as Alyssa Farah Griffin jumped to their defense, exclaiming, “They are wonderful!” while Sara Haines quipped, “And that was a laugh track.”
