Taylor is the son of Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, who starred for the Dolphins and spent one season with the Jets in 2010.

Taylor was a three-year starter at LSU. He set records at the school for career catches with 129 and receiving yards with 1,308.

He had 55 catches for 546 yards and two touchdowns in 2024.

“Taylor was Mr. Reliable in the LSU offense – and can be the same for an NFL team,” The Athletic’s Dane Brugler wrote in his draft preview, “because of his good-sized athleticism, reliable ball skills and competitive blocking. He projects as a solid NFL starter who doesn’t have to leave the field and has some similarities to Hunter Henry.”

The Jets had a hole at tight end after letting Tyler Conklin leave for the Chargers in free agency.

Taylor joins a room that has Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt in it.

The Jets considered taking Penn State tight end Tyler Warren in the first round but drafted Missouri tackle Armand Membou instead.

The Jets offense needed to add some pass catchers to join Garrett Wilson and help new quarterback Justin Fields.
