Don’t expect to see free agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in a Jets uniform.
The Jets’ unsuccessful pursuit of Odell Beckham Jr. in April has led to speculation they also would try to sign Hopkins, who was released by the Cardinals this week, but Saleh threw cold water on that idea.
“We love our current group [of receivers],” Saleh said when asked specifically about Hopkins. “I know there was some stuff with Odell, but other than that, we love our group.”
That includes reigning Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson as well as Allen Lazard, Corey Davis, Denzel Mims, Randall Cobb and Mecole Hardman.
Plenty of other teams will likely be in the mix for the 30-year-old wideout.

On the “I Am Athlete” podcast last week — days before his Arizona release — Hopkins listed a quintet of quarterbacks he’d love to catch passes from, with the Bills’ Josh Allen, the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs, Ravens’ Lamar Jackson and Justin Herbert of the Chargers atop his potential docket.

The Giants didn’t tip their hand on if they were interested in added Hopkins to their receiving corps, with coach Brian Daboll saying Wednesday the team would likely kick the tires.
Hopkins’ quarterback with the Texans, Deshaun Watson, said he’s enjoy a reunion with the first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
“Me and D-Hop, we just naturally talk,” Watson told reporters this week. “We’ve been talking since the Houston days. … He’s always been a brother of mine. … Our connection, our relationship has always been great. … Of course, we would love to have him. He knows that.”

Where Hopkins does indeed land, one thing is for certain: It won’t be with Gang Green.
