The Dolphins’ defense could soon be getting a lot better — but their star cornerback is refuting a report that he will be back on the field this weekend.
Miami is “expected” to have Jalen Ramsey on the field Sunday when the team takes on the Patriots, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Thursday night.
But Ramsey, 29, did not agree with the reporting from the NFL insider.
“So this is why I just got a crazy amount of texts,” Ramsey posted on X. “Well, this is news to me… mfs don’t care about being right, they care about being first in today’s media. That’s sad.”
Ramsey clarified that a Week 8 return isn’t out of the question — but it’s far from a sure thing at this point.
“Full transparency, there’s a CHANCE that I can play this Sunday, but that decision genuinely isn’t made yet so that is news to me just like it is to y’all lolI have to go through a whole process to feel GREAT enough to play,” he wrote. “I won’t play if I feel any less than GREAT.”

The three-time All-Pro selection tore the meniscus in his right knee during training camp in July and subsequently underwent surgery.

At the time, Ramsey was not expected to return before December because the surgery was a full repair, NFL Network reported at the time.
Ramsey’s non-contact injury came when he was covering star wide receiver Tyreek Hill during a drill.

Last week, he practiced with the team for the first time since the surgery but did not play in the Dolphins’ Sunday night loss to the Eagles.
“He is as confident as one can be before his first practice,” head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters then, “and all of the stuff that he’s done in terms of all the work with the strength staff and the training staff, it’s the exact way that you would expect Jalen Ramsey to be.”
Acquired by the Rams in an offseason trade, Ramsey could be a boon for the team’s secondary.
Without the six-time Pro Bowler, the Dolphins rank 20th in passing yards allowed per game (233) and 27th in points allowed (27.6 points per game).
If the Dolphins do not activate him by Nov. 7, he will spend the rest of the season on injured reserve.
