J.D. Martinez traveled to aid struggling superstar Mookie Betts (88 OPS plus) at a Tampa batting cage last weekend. The two teamed on the World Series champion 2018 Red Sox and 2023 Dodgers.

As suggested here previously, Martinez could help his old Mets team.

The Mets made four significant deals while still protecting their top prospects — INF/OF Jett Williams, OF Carson Benge, and RHPs Nolan McLean, Jonah Tong and Brandon Sproat.

The Mets did give up good infield prospect Jesus Baez for Ryan Helsley, but some don’t see him staying at SS.
