A man is in custody after a dramatic arrest after his girlfriend was allegedly found stabbed to death inside a home in Queensland.
Police were called to the home on Flinders Drive in Leichhardt, in Ipswich southwest of Brisbane, to conduct a welfare check at about 9.15am on Monday.
The body of a 28-year-old woman was found at the home sparking an urgent search for her 36-year-old boyfriend, who was allegedly seen driving away from the home earlier that morning in a white Toyota sedan.
A police helicopter and tyre spikes were deployed to track and stop the man in his car about an hour at Ipswich Boonah Road at Peak Crossing.
He was arrested at the scene and is assisting police with inquiries while the Toyota was towed for forensic examination.
Queensland police have announced they are searching for a knife in connection to the alleged offence in the Wyaralong Dam, about 50km south.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, police say they were called to the woman’s home after receiving a concern for welfare report from one of her relatives.
First responders arrived to find the woman had suffered several stab wounds, police said.
A crime scene has been established at the home on the corner or Flinders Drive and Torres Street.
Streets surrounding the scene have been closed to the public.
Police and forensic investigators were spotted scouring through the home about midday.
A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said they’d heard a couple fighting Sunday night.
‘I heard yelling and screaming coming from the house … it’s been happening for a couple of days,’ the neighbour told the Courier Mail.
‘I woke up this morning and saw all the police outside, I can’t believe something like this had happened.’
They said the residents had only moved into the home about six months prior.
More to come.
