The five-year-old was bitten on the arm, buttocks and head near the Ocean Lake camping area on K’Gari (Fraser Island).
The boy’s father was able to quickly intervene and he was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service said rangers were helping the family and working to identify which wongari was involved.
They do not believe the animal was provoked.
The service is also reminding people to keep their children under constant supervision while visiting the island.

QPWS rangers are providing assistance to the family, and will investigate to determine which dingo was involved. It is believed the wongari was not provoked.
QPWS is reminding visitors and residents on K’gari (Fraser Island) to keep children under constant supervision.
People should remain within arm’s length of children and young teenagers and always walk in groups.
Dingoes should not be fed, and all food should locked away while camping or on a boat.
