One of the international university students found dead in inner Sydney has been identified as detectives seek information about her death.

The body of Xiaoting Wang, a 21-year-old student from China, was found in a unit on Conder Street in Burwood after 8.45am on Monday last week.

Police had inspected the unit after arriving to find the body of a man, also a 21-year-old university student from China, in the courtyard of the building complex.

Homicide squad officers and detectives are investigating the deaths and have asked anyone with information to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Superintendent Christine McDonald said this incident has greatly affected the Burwood community.

“There are many people in the Burwood and wider Sydney community who have been affected by the death of Xiaoting,” she said.

“She, like many international students, came to this country for education and opportunity, and for her life to end like this is tragic.”

A vigil will be held for Xiaoting at the Burwood Pavilion Centre at 5pm on Tuesday next week.

“I urge anyone affected by the deaths to attend a vigil, which is being held later this month, to support each other through this time,” McDonald said.
