Two men are now behind bars after NSW Police discovered and dismantled a clandestine drug laboratory in Sydney’s south west.
The discovery was made under Strike Force Cripe, which is investigating a criminal syndicate involved in the manufacture and supply of prohibited drugs across the state.
“Extensive inquiries” led detectives to a property in Belmore last week. Armed with a warrant they searched the premises and located a “clandestine laboratory”.
Over the following days detectives recovered more than 5kg of methamphetamine, 1.8kg of heroin, 70g of cocaine, and 1.5 litres of methamphetamine oil from the laboratory, in addition to items consistent with manufacturing and supplying the drugs.
The drugs are estimated to have a total street value of more than $6 million, police said.
A 39-year-old was arrested during a related search warrant at a home in Campsie.
He was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with multiple offences.
He appeared at Bankstown Local Court the following day, where he was formally refused bail. He is due to reappear at the same court on October 13, 2022.
A second man – a 30-year-old from Warwick Farm – was arrested near Urunga in the state’s north on Saturday.
Detectives from Coffs-Clarence Police District stopped a Honda CRV travelling north on the Pacific Highway.
During a search of the car police allegedly located 45kg of cannabis concealed within duffle bags.
A further 2.5kg of cannabis and $4,500 cash was located during a search warrant of the man’s Warwick Farm property later that day.
He’s been charged with multiple offences and appeared at Port Macquarie Bail Court the following day.
He was formally refused bail and is set to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today.
