NT Parks and Wildlife said Wangi Falls, in Litchfield National Park, had been closed for swimming this afternoon “following unconfirmed reports of an incident with a crocodile”.

People are asked to obey all closures and not enter the water.

Top End water spots are typically closed during the wet season due to saltwater crocodiles moving along the waterways.

They re-open in the winter after rangers have a chance to check they are safe.

9News understands authorities are waiting for further information from the site before confirming the nature of the incident.
