A British dog walker feels “like an absolute idiot” after recently confessing that she forgot to pick up a dog she was hired to walk. Worse, it wasn’t even her first offense.
“Every single dog walker will do this in their career, probably multiple times,” Tay Pienaar of Wiltshire, England, said on TikTok. “I’ve done this before. So, I’ve forgotten a dog basically.”
“The amount of time they’ve been at home for on their own is just too long for them,” she added. “They’re only a year old, oh my god, my heart.”
Pienaar said she came to the unfortunate revelation after counting an unusual number of dogs on her stroll one day.
“I’m on my walk now and I’m thinking ‘why do I only have three [dogs]?’ ” she said. “My heart sunk.”
Pienaar blames the canine catastrophe on a scheduling change she forgot about.

“The worst part about it is that I can’t just chuck them in the car and go get them quickly as they live about 20 minutes away from where I am, so it would mean these guys wouldn’t get a walk,” she said.
“I’ve had to message the owner to really apologize. It’s genuinely the worst thing as a dog walker when you forget a dog…it’s actually the worst.”
The reason Pienaar was willing to open up about the mutt mess she caused was to show an authentic glimpse into the challenges dog walkers face.
“I’d just thought I’d show you the reality. There’s nothing you can do. I’ve literally apologized over and over and over again,” Pienaar said. “You do just feel like an absolute idiot.”
Though, it’s not the end of the world for the dog left behind.
“They’re going to be in my later group walk and are going to get a walk,” she said.
