A popular frozen food item sold at IKEA stores around Australia has been recalled due to the potential presence of black rubber pieces.

Food Standards Australia has warned the SLAGVERK breaded wheat-based pieces may cause illness if consumed.

The affected item was sold in 500g bags with the best before date 19-08-2025 and IKEA product number 205.588.94

The $12 product has been available for sale in IKEA stores in NSW, the ACT, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.

Food Standards Australia said the product should be returned to the place of purchase.

“Consumers should not eat this product,” the watchdog said.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”
