Iconic Sydney nightclub the Argyle is closing down after 17 years in the business.

The club, located in the Rocks near Sydney Harbour, has been one of the city’s nightlife institutions for nearly two decades.

The club’s management took to Instagram to announce that “after 17 incredible years, it is time to say goodbye to the Argyle”.

“For nearly two decades, we’ve been the backdrop to some of Sydney’s biggest and most epic nights,” they wrote.

“From local legends to multi-platinum international artists, we’ve partied with the best, and none of it would’ve been possible without you.”

The club announced it will be putting on a series of closing events to welcome their “final chapter.”

The statement did make it clear why the club is closing down.

The final closing date of the club was also not announced, but it it is believed to be within a few weeks.
