At the end of an investigation spanning years, and minutes away from the report being dropped, ICAC’s findings are still up in the air.

9News Sydney state political reporter Liz Daniels says there are a number of ways it could go.

“So what could happen is that she could be found to be corrupt. That would be the absolute worst finding, that would then mean that she is likely to appeal, I would say, that judgment,” she said.

“But, effectively, the other side of the coin is that she could be found to have simply been an unreliable witness, ICAC may say that they simply didn’t believe her testimony.

“But equally, the public’s eye is on ICAC, which has been – perhaps unsurprisingly – heavily criticised by politicians for the length of the investigation.

“I’ve never known an ICAC report to take this long and Gladys Berejiklian flagged it could take months,” Daniels said.

“Who would have thought in 2021 that the pandemic would end before the ICAC probe did?”
