A major fire has destroyed several villas in the tourist area of Seminyak in Bali.

The blaze was first reported about 10:30pm last night with as many as 16 villas destroyed.

One Australian tourist told Nine’s Perth radio station 6PR Breakfast that he had lost nearly all of his belongings when their villa erupted in flames.

“We were out for dinner, and on our way back we could see flames in the distance,” tourist Bailey told 6PR.

He then realised that his villa was on fire.

“I lost everything except for passports and cash.

“Some of the other guests reportedly lost their passports as well.

“We’re going to head to the embassy to try and get passports for the others,” he said.

He said his next plan was to find some accommodation.

It is not yet clear what caused the blaze.
