Travellers have vented their frustrations after Virgin Australia flights were delayed at Adelaide Airport.

Two flights were cancelled and several others were delayed, which customers said changed weekend plans and overseas flights.

“It has thrown the entire plan out of whack because Sydney was just my connection flight to Paris anyway,” Igor Bermann told 9News.

“Really upset because I have two kids over there and it’s our holiday for Christmas and I have saved all the year,” another traveller told 9News.

Customers lined up for hours seeking answers.

Marina Giannakopoulos and her daughter Effie were under pressure to get to the church on time.

“We had to go up to the service desk and actually ask what was going on,” Giannakopoulos told 9News.

“My sister’s daughter is getting married and my daughter is one of the bridesmaids, so we need to be there on that flight to get to Melbourne.”

Virgin has told 9News the cancellations were due to a number of factors including crew shortages and an inbound plane missing curfew last night due to bad weather interstate.

“We sincerely apologise to guests for the disruption and are working hard to get them to their destinations,” a spokesperson said today.

However for some, waiting for a replacement flight wasn’t an option.

Customer Brody Macro said he felt distraught by the cancellations.

“I have had barely any sleep and now I have to rack up the energy to try and drive there,” he said.

“The resolution is probably going to have to be drive there because the flights… other options are are just ridiculous… the prices are unreasonable,” he said.

Two weeks ago Coldplay and Robbie Williams fans bound for sellout shows in Perth and Sydney had their flights cancelled at the last minute.

Some passengers said they’ve lost trust in the airline.
