The four men on the train are alleged to have fled the scene on foot.
It’s understood a series of train services were cancelled after the alleged stabbing attack due to a ‘police request’ on the Huntingdale area.
Metro Trains announced there were major delays on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines, with buses replacing trains between Caulfield and Westall.
Police have asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
