The VMIA confirmed $3 million has been paid out to affected customers and at least 1100 claims decisions have already been made.

More than 1800 domestic building insurance claims have also been lodged and the insurer is working through the list of remaining clients.

Metricon Homes will complete 300 to 500 homes left unfinished by Porter Davis.

“It’s critical we find an industry solution and it’s important to rebuild confidence of customers,” Metricon chief financial and operating officer Brad Duggan said.

“We are confident that we have a strong plan to deliver homes for ex-Porter Davis customers without impacting our existing Metricon customers.

“We want this to happen as fast as possible.”

Meanwhile, Simonds Homes managing director Rhett Simonds told 3AW work had already begun on a dozen builds.

“From a Simonds Homes perspective, we are here to step in and pick these jobs up from where they have been left off,” he said.
