Thousands are without power in Adelaide after a rain bomb led to flooding and road closures overnight.
Emergency services responded to 240 calls for help across the city as falls of up to 40mm fell on Adelaide, with up to 75mm hitting the Adelaide Hills.
There have been reports of flood and weather damage, as well as a rockslide, with some roads closed.
The weather has subsided this morning, but wet and windy conditions are expected to persist for Australia’s south-east over the weekend, as a cold snap continues to linger.
Adelaide itself is set to stay cold and wet for the next week, Weatherzone reported, with showers expected daily, thanks to a major cloud system still moving across from Western Australia.
Adelaide Hills is set to cop the worst of the bad weather, with the capital to measure top temperatures of 15 to 16 degrees over the weekend.
Light showers are forecast for Sydney today, with 8.6mm having fallen on the city since 9am yesterday.
The weather is expected to clear up later in the morning for a sunny afternoon, and a top temperature of 18 degrees.
Further showers are expected across the state.
Over the weekend Sydney will hit a minimum of nine degrees both days and tops of 19 to 20, with mostly clear skies expected ahead of a sunny start to next week.

Victoria is also set to cop some rain today, with Melbourne to bear the brunt of its falls earlier in the day.
The southern capital can also expect winds of up to 35 km/hr, before they slow down in the afternoon.
Skies are set to be cloudy in Melbourne tomorrow, with more rain on Sunday, and temperatures ranging from eight to 14 degrees over the weekend.
After showers today, Canberra will remain overcast but rain is less likely on the weekend, with a top of 12 degrees both days.

Hobart has up to 35mm of rain forecast today, with showers following on Saturday and Sunday, and tops of 11 to 14 degrees.
It’s warmer in Brisbane with tops of 25 to 27 degrees for the weekend and sunny skies forecast after a slight chance of showers today.
Darwin is consistent with a steady top of 32 degrees from today through to Sunday.
And rain holds sway in Perth, with light falls of up to 9mm expected through the weekend and tops of 15 to 17 degrees.
