Underwater shots taken inside of the blue hole attempt to reveal more of the hole’s mysteries.

“We don’t know what is at the bottom of it yet,” Dr Juan Carlos Alcérreca-Huerta, lead researcher affiliated to the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) and commissioned to ECOSUR, told 9news.com.au.

He added the exact bottom depth is not quite known yet.

“We made some measurements a few months ago, we reached around 270 metres but we didn’t reach the bottom depth,” he said.
