A mum was furious after her teenage daughter accidentally stained her brand new kitchen counters yellow – but photos of the incident leave much to the imagination.

Alexandra, from Queensland, recently had her kitchen refurbished for the first time in 19 years and spent an ‘arm and a leg’ on the effort.

While the mum was happy her 16-year-old wanted to cook dinner for the whole family, her delight turned to despair when she found a carrot ‘stain’ on her cutlery drawer.

The Queensland mum shared photos of her ‘ruined’ kitchen – but hundreds were shocked when they couldn’t see the stain at all.

‘Is this woman taking the p*ss?’ a confused commenter asked.

The woman provided some background information about the stain.

‘I’ve got a brand new handle-less kitchen and my 16-year-old was kind enough to cook dinner today,’ she shared.

‘Unfortunately, she didn’t realise that carrot can stain quite badly and opened drawers with dirty hand after grating the carrots. So now I have a yellow stained cutlery drawer.’

Alexandra added, ‘The finish is a white satin 2pac. I’ve used dish washing detergent on a non scratch scourer and then used pink stuff on rag. Most of the colour came off but there’s still a slight yellow stain.’

The mum admitted that while she thought the stain was faint, she still wanted it removed.

‘It’s new and I want to remove the stain completely but I don’t want to scratch the finish. Does anyone have any idea how best to clean a lacquered surface like that?’

Many were still confused about the image and thought she was joking.

‘There’s no stain that I can see,’ a woman said.

‘Where is the stain? Am I blind?’ another asked.

A third wrote, ‘I’ve literally got perfect vision and can’t see any stain.’

While some others chose to give her some advice anyway.

‘It will fade,’ a mum said. ‘My kids have spilt red cordial and it sits for a while, but then after a few regular cleans it just ends up fading away.’

Another shared, ‘This happens to my white bench top, I was told just spray any kitchen spray (like Ajax) and leave it for 10 minutes and it should just wipe off. This works for me with carrots or capsicums.’

‘When my 2pac kitchen went in the kitchen company told me to use car polish because it retains the sheen,’ a woman revealed.
