According to police, the girl was riding south on the e-scooter on Vaux Street in the Lockyer Valley town of Laidley, about 70km west of Brisbane.

At about 3pm, she fell into the path of a car – a grey Holden Barina – that was travelling in the same direction.

The girl, who is from Laidley, was declared dead at the scene.

Police are now investigating the matter.

“The driver and passenger of the vehicle were not physically injured,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the circumstances of the incident and are appealing for anyone with relevant dashcam/CCTV footage to come forward.”
