A young woman has been rushed to hospital after she was allegedly thrown from a unit balcony.

Emergency services were called to an apartment complex in Arthur Street in Merrylands West about 7.45pm on Sunday night following reports of a concern for welfare.

Police arrived to find a woman, 32, had been thrown off a balcony during an alleged altercation and fell one storey onto the concrete below

She was suffered head and leg injuries and was transported to Westmead Hospital in serious condition.

Photos from the scene show the injured woman being treated by multiple paramedics.

Police were seen cordoning off the scene and speaking with several neighbours.

Police have set up a crime scene and have launched an investigation.

No arrests or charges have yet been laid.
