Skeletal remains have been found in the back of a burnt out car in Sydney’s south. 

The suspected body was found in the back of a torched Toyota RAV4 at Waterfall Flat Carpark, about 50km from the CBD, just after midnight on Tuesday. 

A police investigation has been launched with forensics examining the skeletal remains to determine whether they are human.

Fire crews attended the scene and were able to extinguish the blaze. 

Police were called to the scene shortly after firefighters entered the car and found what is suspected to be human remains inside. 

A crime scene has been established and will be combed by specialist officers.
