A 28-year-old man has died after a stabbing in Sydney’s northwest overnight.

Police were called to an address on Narcissus Avenue in Quakers Hill about 8.25pm yesterday.

The man was found collapsed on a neighbour’s porch with stab wounds to the chest.

Officers performed first aid until paramedics arrived but the man died en route to hospital.

The home and surrounding streets remained cordoned off today as homicide and other specialist detectives scoured the scene for evidence.

Detective Superintendent Scott Bingham said police believe the victim and the occupants inside the home were known to each other.

“The community doesn’t have a reason to be concerned, as we believe this is not a random attack,” Bingham said.

“We believe the man went to the address willingly and something has occurred in the premises.”

Bingham reminded the public that it is a criminal offence to carry a knife without a lawful reason.

“Knife crime affects the wider community,” he said.

“Nobody should be carrying knives in public.

“There is no need to be carrying a knife and if you are caught with a knife there are substantial penalties.”

Police are currently combing through CCTV and are making several inquiries into persons connected to the premises.

Anyone with CCTV footage or dashcam vision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers or Riverstone Police.
