Australian sportsmen and movie stars have issued an anti-domestic violence plea in a video posted to YouTube.

The video included actor Hugh Jackman, footballers Darcy Moore and James Sicily, actor Eric Bana, singer Vance Joy, actor Travis Fimmel, cricketer Usman Khawaja, comedian Hamish Blake and others.

The message urged men to stand up against domestic violence, specifically violence targeting women.

“Whenever we talk about men’s violence against women, we often hear people argue that it’s not all men,” Moore says, opening the video.

“We know that not all men are violent towards women, but all men have a role to play in helping to end it.”

“Family violence harms too many Australians each year,” Jackman adds.

“Family violence is a national disgrace,” Bana says.

“We need to call it out, it needs to change,” Vance Joy continued.

The video goes on, ending on Moore saying: “By calling out disrespect when we see it and when we hear it, and never making excuses for violence, all men can help to end violence against women in our community.”

The video was posted by the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, and is part of an initiative of Chief Justice Will Alstergren AO.

Since the start of 2025, 31 women have been killed in alleged domestic violence murders.

Another 69 women were killed in 2024.
