A woman’s body has been found in the water of a popular lake.
Tasmanian Police have cordoned off a section of the Hobart Rivulet, an urban stream located in the Hobart hinterland, Tasmania.
Police were called to the scene at about 4.30pm on Friday after a hiker, who was walking along the rivulet track, made the grim discovery.
It is understood the woman, believed to be in her early 30s, has yet to be formally identified.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear and an investigation is now underway.
Police have established a crime scene between Molle Street and Warneford Street and have asked members of the public to avoid the area.
Anyone who has information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Police are also calling for anyone who may have seen the woman in the rivulet area to come forward.
