A Queensland NRL and State of Origin star described as ‘high-profile’ has been accused of rape, according to reports.
9News Queensland reports that the allegations were made to police, with officers attending the player’s residence as investigations began.
A woman then made a formal complaint to the police about the player, who is currently contracted to a Queensland NRL club.
‘The Queensland Police Service is investigating a sexual assault complaint relating to an incident on the Gold Coast on Tuesday May 14 2024. Investigations into this matter are ongoing,’ Queensland police said in a statement on Thursday morning.
Under the NRL’s no-fault stand-down policy, players who are charged with a crime that carries a possible jail term of 11 years or more are automatically suspended.
The latest bombshell comes ahead of the NRL’s Magic Round extravaganza in Brisbane, which will see all fixtures played in the city.
