A rescue operation is underway on Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula, where a helicopter has crashed into the water.

It is believed there were multiple passengers onboard when the helicopter crashed into the water about 30 metres off the rocks at Point Lonsdale just after 10am.

Emergency services rushed to the beach after multiple triple-zero callers reported seeing a helicopter crash into the water.

At least one of the patients is believed to be in a serious condition.

An Air Ambulance has arrived at the scene.
