Australia’s northeastern tropics will be hit with heavy tropical rain and covered in cloud for most of this week, according to Weatherzone, with flooding likely to affect roads and communities in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
There will be plenty of sunshine across the rest of the country, which is set to bring a surge of summer heat and cause heatwave conditions over the next week.
Adelaide is set to reach a maximum of 38C on Thursday, the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting.
Meanwhile, Melbourne is predicted to reach a maximum of 35C on Friday, and Sydney is set to reach a top of 32C on Saturday.

Brisbane is also set to reach a top of 32C on Sunday and Monday.
Perth is forecast to hit 31C on Saturday and Sunday and Darwin is set to hit a top of 34C on Thursday.
Hobart will reach a top of 28C on Friday.
