A child has been injured following an alleged hit-and-run crash after two cars collided that led to one of the vehicle’s being flipped over on it’s side.
The crash happened on Auburn Road in Hawthorn, in Melbourne’s east around 7.20am on Wednesday.
The nine-year-old child was travelling in a BMW X5 SUV along with the driver of the vehicle at the time.

A driver of a Volkswagen sedan allegedly collided with the BMW, forcing the car to flip over on it’s side.

The child and the driver were rushed to hospital after the pair suffered minor injuries.
Following the crash, the driver of the Volkwagen is alleged to have fled the scene on foot.
Victoria Police found the 41-year-old driver a short time later on Auburn Road before he was arrested.

The man who is believed to be from Noble Park, in Melbourne’s south-east is understood to be assisting officers with their enquiries.
Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
