Harvey Weinstein, 70 was sentenced to 16 years behind bars today after being convicted of rape. He will likely die in prison.
Harvey Weinstein’s Reign Of Terror Ends

The disgraced media mogul was brought to justice today in Los Angeles and will ultimately spend the rest of his life behind bars for sexual assaults committed on countless women during his time as a big Hollywood executive.
It took three main charges related to one Jane Doe to get Harvey those long 16 years. Jane Doe #1 is described as a European model who said she was assaulted by Weinstein at Mr. C hotel in 2013 after the L.A. Italia Film Festival.
Initially, Weinstein faced 11 charges in L.A. but four of those charges related to Jane Doe #5 were dismissed leaving 7 and Weinstein ultimately being charged with 3. Why only three? The jury was struggling to come to an agreement on all the charges.
Harvey Weinstein’s Lawyers Are Appealing

Of course, the former Hollywood executive’s Lawyers are appealing. They filed in January to have the conviction overturned and requested a new trial with a new jury and all that jazz, but today, that idea was shot down.
Harvey is also convicted in New York City and the Court of Appeals has agreed to hear out the appeal with the possibility of overturning the 2020 sex crimes conviction. Unlike the New York trial, the LA. One agreed that he was a predator that used his power to attack women.
However, Harvey’s lawyers claimed that those women willingly engaged in “transactional sex”, why wouldn’t they, seeing as Weinstein is a big Hollywood exec.

More Than 100 Women Banned Together

The media mogul was accused of these heinous crimes by more than 100 women. They accused him of sexual abuse, assault, and harassment over decades. In 2017, his horrible behavior had a light shined on it amidst the honesty of the #MeToo movement.
While the exec denied all the allegations, the women who came forward told almost identical stories about the abuse they suffered at the hands of Weinstein and some even claimed it happened more than once.
Jane Doe #1 said in a statement read in court on Wednesday, “Before that night I was a very happy and confident woman. I valued myself and the relationship I had with God. I was excited about my future.”

The Associated Press went on to quote her as saying after the attack life was significantly different. “Everything changed after the defendant brutally assaulted me. There is no prison sentence long enough to undo the damage.”
AP also went on to share some notes from Weinstein’s statement. “I maintain that I’m innocent. I never raped or sexually assaulted Jane Doe 1.”
It was hoped by those in the courtroom that Weinstein would get the maximum of 24 years in prison to be served consecutively with his New York sentencing, but he lucked out and got 16 years instead.
Weinstein’s company is also on the hook for a $17 million lawsuit split among 40 of the women that initially accused the shunned executive.
