Hannah Waddingham Calls Out Jason Sudeikis For Ending ‘Ted Lasso’: “We Miss It, Jason!”

There’s nothing but love amongst the Ted Lasso cast. But after more than six months since its Season 3 finale and no word of a potential spinoff of any sort, even star Hannah Waddingham is growing antsy.

On Monday night’s (Dec. 18) episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, the British actress seemingly called out her fellow co-star and series creator Jason Sudeikis for dropping the ball on the future of Ted Lasso because, like the rest of us, she really misses it.

The conversation started when Seth Meyers asked Waddingham about her reunion with the cast at last weekend’s Christmas episode of Saturday Night Live, in which Kate McKinnon was host.

“We travel in a nauseating pack,” she joked, while Meyers pointed out that several of her former castmates also appeared in her Christmas special, Hannah Waddingham: Home For Christmas, which premiered last month on Apple TV+.

While Meyers has primarily worked in live television, where he spends each week with his cast, he pointed out that the Ted Lasso group doesn’t see each other very often.

“No, we don’t,” Waddingham confirmed. “Sometimes I think people think it’s contractual that we spend time together. But we just — it’s like a feeding frenzy [when we get together].”

She continued, “Even things we do like Q&As and stuff, we’re trying to slip out the door to start our evening together, which is so lovely. And I think that comes through the camera and that’s why people love Ted so much.”

Meyers chimed in that he misses the show, prompting Waddingham to stare directly into a camera and deliver a message to Sudeikis.

“We miss it, Jason! We miss it!” she declared through gritted teeth and furrowed eyebrows. “Come on!”

This isn’t the first time Waddingham has said she’s game to reprise her role as AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton. While speaking to the Los Angeles Times in August, the actress expressed excitement over the possibility of a spinoff series.

“I want to see her through,” she said of her character. “If you are left at a moment with the character, you want to see them through that moment. Does it work with her and the Dutchman? Does she have a female league? I mean, I hope so! It feels like it’s finished but not finished, because none of our lives are.”

Late Night with Seth Meyers airs weeknights at 12:35/11:35c on NBC. Plus, all three seasons of Ted Lasso are available to stream on Apple TV+.
