Two young girls have been left terrified after a gang of gun-wielding men burst into their Western Sydney home in the middle of the night.

The four men kicked down the door of the home in Prairiewood at around 2am on Friday.

A woman in her 50s and two girls aged eight and 10 were at home at the time, but no one was injured.

At least of the men was holding a gun, a family friend told The Today Show.

The friend said the gunman put the weapon against the woman’s head and told her to cooperate and ‘nobody would get hurt’.

The woman was forced to hand over cash and jewellery before the gang fled the scene.

The men remain on the run and a police manhunt is underway.

It’s understood the woman’s husband and son were overseas at the time.
