Two bodies have been found inside a shipping container at a country property.

Emergency services were called to Goolma Road, Gulgong, about 30kms north of Mudgee in central-west NSW at about 11am on Saturday, following reports of a concern for welfare.

Officers attached to Orana-Mid Western Police District located two bodies in a shipping container at the location.

A crime scene has been established as an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident continues.

It’s believed the bodies are of a man and a woman and were found in a state of decomposition. 

Gulgong, with a population of about 2,500 people. is located about 30 minutes north of Mudgee and is famous for its well-preserved Federation-era architecture and craft stores. 

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
