Haunting CCTV has emerged of a man’s moments before he was allegedly killed in a horrific attack in broad daylight

Josese McGoon, 37, and a friend had just eaten pizza when they began walking towards a mate’s house just after 1.30pm on Saturday in Bangor Street, Guildford, in Sydney’s west.

Three masked men dressed in black got out of a ‘blue or silver Toyota sedan and assaulted the pair before Mr McGoon was stabbed in the stomach.

His friend managed to distract one of the alleged attackers by running back to his vehicle parked on nearby Cardigan Street.

He then drove back to the location and found an injured Mr McGoon lying in the street suffering from abdominal injuries.

His friend drove Mr McGoon to Westmead Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery but died three hours later.

His attackers remained at large on Sunday night.

Mr McGoon was captured on CCTV walking down the street moments before the stabbing.

The Toyota sedan from which his suspected attackers allegedly got out of was also captured, as was Mr McGoon’s friend’s car rushing him to hospital.

NSW Police believed the group had ‘intent’ but the alleged attack appeared random.

‘They obviously had intent when they went to that location they knew what they were up to and obviously, our victim and our witness were in the wrong place at the wrong time, by the looks of it,’ Superintendent Andrew Holland told the media.

‘The attack at this point – we don’t know of any links but again there’s concerns about why they’ve been attacked in the middle of the day in the middle of the street.’

Despite a weapon not yet located, Mr Holland believes that based on Mr McGoon’s injuries, ‘it’s believed to be a bladed weapon’.

Troubling police is the fact that the alleged attack happened in daylight on a suburban street and Mr McGoon not being involved with criminal activity.

‘The victim doesn’t have any links to organised crime networks or motorcycle gangs at this point, neither does the witness …the victim is known to police, but not for any serious matters,’ Supt Holland said.

It’s understood that Mr McGoon’s friend is assisting police but now ‘has concerns for his safety and his welfare,’ Supt Holland added.

Police urge any witnesses who were in Bangor Street at the time of the stabbing to come forward with any information they might have.

Investigations are still ongoing and police have been canvassing the area asking for CCTV footage and information from nearby residents.

The alleged stabbing was Sydney’s second fatal stabbing within 12 hours after a man in his 30s was allegedly knifed with a machete at Concord in Sydney’s inner-west on Friday night.

A boy, 15, has since been charged with murder.
