A group of men are on the run after an alleged fight and shooting outside a shopping centre in Melbourne.

Police alleged two groups of men had an argument outside Epping Plaza on High Street about 8pm yesterday.

They all fled the scene by the time officers arrived but a search of the area uncovered evidence that a gun had been fired.

Police said they don’t believe anyone from the groups had been shot.

A 22-year-old and a 16-year-old, both from Lalor, went to a nearby hospital for injuries believed to be caused by a sharp weapon.

The man is in a serious condition and under police guard.

The teenager has non-life-threatening injuries and is being questioned by police.

“Police believe the two groups are known to one another,” police said.

Anyone with footage of the incident or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
